The Dove and Olive Branch
The olive branch represents a gift.

A gift from the heart
The olive branch represents a gift, a gift from the heart. I think that communicates my feelings about making jewelry. As an artisan, I am quite focused on challenging my skills to do the best job possible. It is quite an engaging activity! My wish is that every customer is delighted with their jewelry. It is also a gift to me to be given an opportunity to create treasured pieces for people. It’s the journey as much as the destination!
Also, my surname is Palumbo, an Italian name that means “dove of peace.” I remember thinking it was a wonderful meaning when I was told this as a child. This is also a way to honor my parents, Joseph Thomas Palumbo and Cathleen Palumbo. They may have passed from this world but will never be forgotten. ♡
A symbol of peace
The dove has been a symbol of peace, hope, forgiveness, and deliverance for many cultures worldwide for thousands of years. Many people are familiar with the Bible’s story of Noah and the Great Flood. As the floodwaters receded, the arc came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah sent out a dove, which returned with an olive leaf. This showed Noah that the Biblical floodwaters had receded.
“and the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.” Genesis 8:11 KJV
